Every young person faces a problem of choosing
a career and finding a suitable job. They try to solve these tasks as quick as
possible: to get a prestigious well-paid job and a prospect of further career
growth. Youth is the time of optimism. One is full of energy and desire to
realize his aims and ideals. Even the most difficult types of professional
activity are accessible in youth. It is the very time for self-realization. The
distinctive features of young people are purposefulness, seriousness,
independence of opinion and estimations. The most urgent thing for any young
person at that time is to provide material sufficiency in the future and quick
advancement through social and career staircase.
Furthermore, youth
is the time for mastering in the chosen profession, defining your attitude to
the social life and your own role in it. As in any time, today young people
have different life destinations. Dynamics of value orientations depends on
various external factors, and very often young people have no idea how to
choose the right way of living. Every young person has to make an extremely
stressful decision, to choose his or her own career. Choosing a career is a
challenging task. It is all about finding the perfect match between your
personality, interests, and skills.
In addition, success and development of the
modern industry and new technologies, tourism and service spheres suppose a
good command of foreign languages. They aspire to succeed and make a good
career, which requires good knowledge of languages and experience. So, they try
to get wider knowledge and experience from different sources such as Internet,
books, newspapers, magazines and, of course, from disputes with wiser and older
people. Nowadays the source of success besides the basic education is the
knowledge of languages. When Western and Eastern companies came to the Russian
market, the necessity of workers knowing foreign languages increases. An
employer estimates not only professional qualities of an employee, but also his
ability to use foreign language, especially English, in his professional
activity. Russian labour market needs the people who understand other nations’
mentality, habits and features of conducting business with them.
It’s a usual practice that foreign companies
conferences, correspondences are held in the language of the corporation. So,
the knowledge of languages becomes the basic skill, as well as the ability to
work with a computer. Companies try to refer from the service of interpreters
which are usually necessary only when there is a necessity in rare languages.
Therefore, nowadays the main roles are played by the people knowing several
languages. Language skills are important for administrative and secretary
positions, and also for technical specialists and managers, and it touches
those spheres where Russia goes into the international sphere where the
knowledge of international standards is necessary, for example, in
pharmaceutics, medical equipment, trade, logistics, book-keeping and high-
technology industries.
But on the other
hand, youth is the time when
complete independence has not reached yet. Some young people still do not know
which career to choose. Even after finishing a secondary school, very often
young people have to waste time deciding whether to study at some high
education institution or to look for a job. For young fellows it is a more
difficult decision because some of them don’t want to be called-up to the Army,
that’s why they enter any institute or university just not to become soldiers.
Sometimes young people choose a career they seem to be interested in, only
after some time they realize that this occupation is not their cup of tea. So,
they have to leave the university. Modern young people have not ripened for
planning their living ways. Today the term ‘career’ is washed out. Any
Russianwants to make a career. But not
all of them think about the meaning of this modern word. What does it mean? To
became a professional? Or a manager? It is impossible for everybody to
formulate this term.Not all the people
can became company presidents .Most of
the students want to be top managers. Some of them reach this aim, but others
have to forget about their pride and really estimate their opportunities to
understand what they should begin with.The reason of overpriced prides is in the informing field. Our country
now is ‘thrown’ into the career. Because of race after money students
understand that the obvious way to earn is to become a manager and there is no
other way. According to the opinion poll, the most popular profession among the
11th form students is a profession of a layer. The main criteria of
choosing are high payment and interest to this kind of activity. The money
matter is more significant for school graduates. For the majority of pupils
higher education is an opportunity to get prestigious and well-paid job. A job
is considered to be the way to reach higher social status and the opportunity
to realize creative potential, abilities and professional skill. School
graduates, who prefer to work and not to enter the university, come across some
difficulties having no certain purpose or finding a suitable place to work
because of absence of the experience. The problem of self-presentation becomes
strained because of absence of experience, low self-confidence. Great
difficulty is to earn money for living, to aim material independence from
parents. If the job is found, they should adapt to the working place and new
requirements, to obtain practical abilities, to join in the adults’ society- all these changes may be quite arduous for
girls and boys.
Consequently, the
problem of choosing the right job is very widespread among young people
nowadays and they should think thoroughly before making any decision. Education
is a necessary springboard for a successful advancement in this life. Nowadays
the situation in the sphere of employment put young people in difficult
conditions. Before the distributing system guaranteed to graduates employment
according to their specialities, but now the distribution is held in limited
scale, and young people turned out in hard competition with experiencedones. As young people are very creative, they
bear plenty of fresh ideas to the "team” they are working in. For example, when
my friend was hired as a software developer, he surprised everybody with his
energy, a bunch of new and fresh ideas about what could be done to improve the
process. He was the youngest person in the team but everybody listened to him
and it was like a fresh air, an impulse, which made everyone work harder.
In conclusion we’d like to say, nobody should
forget that young generation is the future of every country, that’s why the
rate of all the further existence depends on it. First of all, young people
intend to learn new things faster. They master new technologies much quicker
than the old generation. Young people are more motivated. The necessity of
supporting a young generation by government is urgent. It must provide an employment
for young people. An acceleration rate of social life is connected with the
scientific and technical progress and carries outthe growth of importance of young people in
social, political and cultural life of the country. Higher rate of technical and
economical development is, more significant social and cultural differences
between generations become.It’s the government’s
task to give a young person a chance to see the perspectives of the further
life through mass media. It’s necessary to invent talk shows and disputes on
the urgent topics based on choosing a job, giving the ways to creative
self-realization. A successful life means having perfect education, a
profession just to your character and making a very good career. The
opportunity to reach definite level of well-being and provide your future
family becomesthe main value of the
young generation. All in all, profession remains one of the most important life
values. The knowledge of foreign language is a guarantee to get prestigious and
well-paid job today.
