Drugs, narcotics are as popular nowadays as tobacco and cigarettes were in the previous century. It`s not a surprise that a lot of youngsters are involved in drug sales and abuse. The 20th century has witnessed the spread of narcotics to the whole world. Drug addiction has become a worldwide socially dangerous trend. Cocaine, heroin and other kinds of drugs become a usual fun for young teenagers.
The most dangerous thing is that drugs lead to another forms of deviance such as suicides, prostitution and crime. As for crime and drugs they are always next to each other. These are two ways which lead to one end. Drugs and crime are not only closely interrelated but actually blend fully and in fact become what is known as narco-crime. When people become dependent on drugs they concentrate all their efforts on getting drugs at any cost. So they are engaged in criminal activities. Hallucinations and especially breakings give terrible results. Young and bright teenagers fall down from windows, cut veins and hang themselves. But imagine they could create and decorate our life with their achievements. Just look at our youth. They are of the age of 5 and they are able to use the Internet, they create programs. Youth is the best time for their burst of creativity and ideas. However they waste themselves on narcotics.
Drugs bring a lot of money. Narco-dealers making fabulous profits infect more and more people and even entire social groups with drug addiction. Certainly selling a dose they don’t remember about somebody other’s crippled life.
Nowadays drug abuse has became a real plague in many countries of the world and it is becoming the plague of my country too.
What is happening ? Why do teens having tasted once, can’t refuse from it? The pleasurable sensations of comfort and satisfaction that a person experiences using narcotics is much greater than that of alcohol thus making the repetition so desirable .
Consequently, dependence on drugs and the desire to enlarge the dose or experiment with some new and more powerful drugs increases.
Young people who are unable to overcome their problems find the way out in using drugs. They forget about stresses. Relaxation which comes to the whole body can be compared with any thing.
At the same time profit seeking dealers expand the drug market at any cost by supplying drugs to more and more addicts taking advantage of their weaknesses. Drug sales are the closing stage in drug trafficking. Drug trade earns huge sums of money that cover the costs of cultivating drug-bearing plants, producing transportation, sale expenses.
Throughout this century international organizations have been paying much attention to activities against drug abuse . For example in 1909 the Shanghai Opium Comission approved documents to restrict drug transporting between countries.
Nowadays millions of teens are sucked in a dirty game of so called drugs sales. A lot of grown-ups and children are drawn into the process of illegal drug trafficking from those engaged in cultivating drugs or producing medical substances containing drugs, to drug salesmen and dealers engaged in money –laundering.
Drugs. It’s a terrible word. And everyone who tasted them even once will later regret about his first attempt. People come to them due to various reasons: getting kicks, going away from this severe reality and merely satisfying hungering curiosity. And you may simply find yourself in a wrong place and with a wrong company.
The wish to consign to oblivion turns out stronger. Person tired of tense struggle surrenders. That is how narcotics become a pill of oblivion. Getting stoned you feel no pain or disappointment any more. You are high in the heaven even if problems exist they don’t touch you.
Unfortunately drugs give oblivion only for some time and afterwards you are welcome to this brutal world again.
Drugs destroy not only the life of those, who accept them but the life of those who surround drug addicts all those who love them.
Our nearest and dearest suffer together with those who grow feeble day after day, getting stoned from next dose.
And what is left? Nothing. There is no more love. There is pain, regret and disappointment. You can’t name all the feelings. You can do it only when you have lived through it. Drug addict is a grief which becomes a grief of all the family who are so tired of your state that begin to wish you a death. T o my mind it`s the most awful thing when you are not only unnecessary but you are unwanted in this life, in this world.
Just imagine. When your sweet-heart, beloved that who seemed to be prepared for an important role in this life is dying slowly.
It’s awful. It’s awful when a lad who promised well and was able to achieve a great success, now carries out all the last values of his family to exchange them for drugs.
And his parents understand everything but however they can`t do anything only because he is their son and they still have patience and hope to stop him somehow.
And this young person actually is under 20 but so exhausted in his soul. And when you ask what he wants he says the only thing to wish is some injection.
And you hear how again and again he swears that it is his last attempt and assures you that he is not a drug addict.
You want to believe but understand that everything is a lie and self-deception. And nothing will be as it was before because the line has been drawn and this life is divided in the life before and after the first dose.
He will not be the same as before. Never. And now some chemical substance such as heroin is his master. And he is just a pitiful slave of his wishes and is the first in a queue to the hell.
…Sitting on the precipice he cried, he wept, he sobbed like a child.
He grieved for his destiny.He wept bitterly about his dreams that wouldn`t come true and what he hadn`t caught.
Everything rushed in front of eyes: his lost job and his beloved girl. At once he remembered the tears in his mother’s eyes.
Suddenly he said:” Solomon’s words- everything is in your hands”. It means that we can change everything and we should only want it.
The end will be only if we confess our defeat. But so far you are alive you are able to struggle.
In fact millions of people all over the world are ready to help drug addicts. There are a lot of drug clinics for people poisoned by narcotics. They are anonymous for the most part. It’s not worth to be afraid because specialized colleagues and doctors save a lot of drug addicts. They help to overcome anxiety and fear. The ways of cure are various such as individual work and different medical treatment.
Other drug addicts find the way of risqué in religion. In calming prayers these desperate people seek a peace and get it. They vow to give up drugs. Such cases really exist. Religion helps people and brings them to normal life. Some fellows who suffered from this disease come to monastery or other distant places. They deprive themselves of those beckoning lures that our modern life is rich in.
This catastrophe can happen to everybody. No assurance exists that you or some of your friends will not be caught by drugs. But you should remember that miracles occur. Don’t keep silence and share your problems with your friends, relatives or doctors. In spite of anything there are happy incidents of successful cure.
You need to believe that you are among those who can defeat this mortal habit. Your struggle only begins. This is not the end. This is the beginning but what to begin you have to determine yourself.
Love that people give you will help to overcome this mortal habit.
I want to say to all those who wants to try this dangerous experiment.
Don`t do it. We have only life, just one.
There will be no other life for you.
And I want to say to all those who has tasted drugs and who are really brave and don`t refuse from struggle.
You are courageous as you have made up your mind to give up drugs and be free from this dependence. You are stronger than drugs.
